Sugar babe..!

I've just finished watching this documentary on a food channel on how candy is made, it was amazing! How did people come about spinning sugar like that and making dozens if not thousands of shapes and colours. From multicoloured lollipops to aniseed humbugs. From strawberry twizzlers to all those whirly pops and retro sweets. How did man go about " manipulating" simple ingredients like sugar, egg white, butter and nuts -I wonder

I then sat quietly, musing on the events of the day and remembered what my friend has been trying to tell me. She's going through an acrimonious divorce and I'll spare you from all the gory details, but it dawned on me that it's not what ingredients you happen to have, it's what you do with them that counts... Attitude is indeed a little thing that makes a big difference; I quote Churchill there-just in case! It's the way you carry yourself and look at things what matters most and not what you can carry before you. I'm talking relationships here, and I find many women communicating the same message whether manifestly or not. Women need respect, but the real requisite for entry into a woman's heart is definitely kind words that are easy to speak. Deep inside many women appreciate gestures like being offered a hand while stepping on an uneven surface or a light comforting pat on the shoulder no matter how tough a front they put up. I believe, and for quite some time now that many women need a shoulder to lean on and sometimes even to cry on. They say that the deepest significance in life is the capacity to care and that is what most women are about. Many women exist to take care of her child, family, career, plants or even pets, but rarely does a gentle pat on the shoulder goes unfelt. That reminds me of one of my favourite childhood rhymes: Adam and Eve and yes the treat is candy or gundy as they say in Scotland. The relationship between Adam and Eve is more than just a tickling game, but treats, kind words and attention are the food that nurtures each and every relationship day in day out. The glucose of every relationship, sugar babe ;-)

Finger Play

(Scots)
Adam and Eve gaed up ma sleeve,
Tae fess me doon some gundy.

Adam and Eve cam doon ma sleeve,

An said there was nane till Monday.

Finger Play
(English)

Adam and Eve went up my sleeve,
To fetch me down some candy.

Adam and Eve came down my sleeve,
And said there was none till Monday.
